The Forge Arena is a game that was first created back in 2018. Due to the lack of development and usage since then the team has had to figure out the exact state that it was left in. This was by no means a small or easy task, which meant it took longer than the developers anticipated. There were changes made by the old studio that were never released to the public because of the game shutting down. This means that our team had to find those changes, make sure they were working properly and then we could focus on what we wanted.
From the start the community gave us a sizable amount of feedback to sort through. As we started to really get a hold of the project, we made it a main goal to listen to our community and use that feedback to make the game better. The result of which is prevalent throughout this massive update. The sheer amount of improvements to the project really makes it feel like it’s not the same game that some of us “OGS” played back in 2018.
Making this game a competitive FPS has been the goal from the start, but we also wanted to achieve the casual aspect as well since we want to support all playstyles. The changes we made were carefully thought out and resulted in casual play still being fun for everyone no matter the skill level. The whole team has hit so many milestones in such a short amount of time that it shows the passion we have behind the project. We will continue to show this passion and dedication with all our future updates, with our main focus always being the community. We want to thank everyone who has been here since the beginning as well as all the people who are new. The “Third Person” Bug has been fixed.

After relaunching The Forge it was obvious to our team and the community that the balance of the weapons were all wrong. Thus we set out to fix the problem not only with a new QA team but with a staggering amount of help from the community. All of this lead to every single weapon being changed to some degree to make them feel fair and balanced.

ARMOR UPDATES
Removed regen and capacity armor. — Having two different types of armor made it too confusing. To clean up the confusion we removed both types of armor.
Buying armor once will give you 4 bars of armor. — This is equivalent to full capacity armor.
Armor refills at the end of every round as long as you don’t die.
If you die your armor is destroyed and you have to buy it again in the next round.
HYBRID UPDATES
Winning team reward amount from 1750 → 2000
Losing team reward amount from 1000 → 1500
Added economy limit of 12000
Pre-Round countdown changed from 10 → 20 sec — We wanted to allow players to buy weapons and talk about strategies for that round before being rushed into it.
Maximum round loss bonus changed from 5 → 9 rounds — For every round you lose you get 100 currency so we upped the maximum rounds so you can gain more if your team is on a large losing streak.
You now earn 200 per enemy alive when the objective is completed. — Capturing the point, bomb blowing up, or defusing the bomb is a completed objective.
You now have to win by 2 rounds. — If a game is 9–9 you have to win with a score of 11–9.
CAPTURE THE POINT
Time to capture decreased from 30 → 25 sec
Removed capture multiplier and added phase changes. — Rather than the multiplier to capture faster, there are now 5 phases that decrease over time. Less phases means the faster you will capture the point.
SEARCH AND DESTROY
Time to Defuse from 8 → 7 sec
DEATHMATCH UPDATES
Blocked usage of smokes, frags, and flashbangs.
Increased base starting amount from 1500 → 30000 — We wanted players to be able to buy and use whatever they want, this allows them to practice with all the weapons we have.
MAP UPDATES
Moved a crate in the hybrid gamemode spawn causing an audio issue.
You can now shoot and jump into the shooting range in spawn
ORIGIN
Blocked players from getting behind test tubes on B site.
You can no longer plant the bomb on the top of the generators on A site.
Blocked a spot allowing you to see from spawn to spawn to get a kill.
EXODUS
Removed head glitch spot in middle of search and destroy.
Removed trophies from the bottom of the tomb on A site search and destroy.
Fixed multiple locations that caused an audio issue.
HANGAR
You can now use the buy menu behind the Anubis hologram in the corner of spawn.
Moved a wire spool in the bottom lab to fix an audio issue.
MOVEMENT UPDATES
You no longer “float” when you jump.
Improved movement drastically.
We wanted to make this update feel rewarding for having good movement. In order to accomplish this we needed to make players move fast and have more responsiveness. We did just that by increasing the players movement speed a lot while maintaining the different paces of our game.
PERFORMANCE UPDATES
Lighting has been changed on Exodus, Origin, and Hangar to give a massive frame rate increase to our game.
QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES
The character model is now more visible with and without armor allowing players to see an enemy or friendly player clearer.
The “Press B to Open Shop” button is now smaller and higher on your screen to get it out of your face.
The “Press B to Open Shop” button is no longer showing during spectating, but you can still use the shop by pressing “B”
The timed chat message has been changed to include our discord rather than the non-existing forums from the old studio.
The scoreboard now shows all players’ connections.
Weapon inspecting is now a toggle instead of having you hold it down.
Players’ stats on the scoreboard changed from kills→assists→deaths to kills→deaths→assists.
Servers are now a higher tick rate from 60 → 128 tick
